What wedding trends can you expect to see this year

17 Jul 2018

As with interior design, wending trends can change from year to year, and 2018 is no exception. From pub weddings to capes, we have compiled a list of things you can expect to see coming to a wedding near you this year.

  • Change the usual setting. Why not your local pub? Or a city hall? Whilst there is something to be said for a more traditional wedding reception environment, going to your favourite pub might be a good idea as well. This removes the sense of formality which often surrounds a weeding day, leaving you and your guests feeling relaxed. Similarly, many city halls across the world are stunning pieces of architecture, and more than suitable for a wedding reception.

  • Eloping, but with a chosen few. Running away to Vegas to get married might be exciting, but for some, the notion of tying the knot without their close friends and family is unthinkable. So why not have the best of both worlds?

  • Capes not veils. This may not be for everyone, and veils are always an elegant and traditional choice, but recently some people have taken to wearing full length or shorter capes instead. These can be just as graceful as a more classic look, whilst making sure you stand out from the crowd.

  • One-colour bouquets. Whilst some brides prefer to go all out with the colour of the bouquet, to contrast with the whiteness of the dress, going monotone can look just as good, and can provide a starting point for the colour scheme for the rest of the day.

  • Glass marquees. Often, the wedding setting, be it a beach, castle, or forest, is just as stunning as anything else, and you might want to try to make the most of it. The secret is using a glass marquee, or equivalent. Of course, buying a glass marquee wouldn’t be cheap, but a clear tent gives the same effect. You could also look for a conservatory when choosing the venue in the first place.
